You can win too! I install custom ignition systems for these cars that WILL generate more power. If you know about Gullwing history, you know that Gullwing owners pioneered the use of the Delta Mark 10 Capacitive Discharge unit in the 1960s. A lot of these guys were engineers, and they understood how these Bosch mechanical fuel injection units worked: they run rich at most settings except wide open throttle. This means you can generate more power (and keep your combustion chambers cleaner) with a hotter spark. In the 90s and early 2000s, the late Randy Durrance used later Mb Hall Effect magnetic trigger units inside these older distributors with similar results. I use MSD boxes with electronic triggers and matched ignition components, and I curve and rebuild distributors. You're not going to get more power out of a 123 Ignition unit unless your old distributor was shot. Call me and I'll build and install one of my systems for you!
